Grants & Funding
Advancing the science of serious diseases
Insmed may provide funding to organizations that support healthcare provider education and patient care objectives associated with our core therapeutic areas. Funding is available to support the following therapeutic areas:
- Nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) lung disease
- Non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis
- Serious and rare lung diseases
Organizations eligible to receive funding include medical and professional associations, patient organizations, hospitals and health systems, government organizations, medical education companies, and accredited CME/CPD providers. Funding may not be provided directly to healthcare professionals or their practices. Funding requests should be submitted at least 60 days prior to the program/project start date. Insmed requires funding support to be publicly disclosed.
Please email us with any questions about our grants processes and requirements.
Medical education grants
Insmed may provide grant support for independent medical education programs that enhance healthcare professionals’ ability in diagnosing and treating patients in Insmed therapeutic areas of interest to help improve patient care and health outcomes.
Medical education grants may be provided for:
- Accredited (CME/CE/CPD) medical education for healthcare professionals
- Non-accredited medical education for healthcare professionals
- Independent education for patients
Submission requirements include:
- Needs assessment statement stating the purpose/need for the program including knowledge or practice gaps the program will address
- Program agenda/overview
- Program budget file
- Detailed program summary
- Learning objectives
- Program outcomes
- Current W9 form (or W8 for non-U.S. organizations)
Non-Cystic Fibrosis Bronchiectasis (NCFB) Areas of Education Focus:
- Disease burden, unmet needs, lung function decline, patient risk factors associated with lung damage, QoL (quality of life) and comorbidities.
- Natural history, signs, symptoms and clinical course, and impact of pulmonary exacerbations on progression of the disease.
- Early and accurate NCFB recognition. Diagnostic pathway that flags cardinal symptoms of NCFB (e.g., chronic productive cough, recurrent exacerbations) to trigger timely diagnosis (e.g., CT scan). Potential misdiagnosis with other common respiratory diseases (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), asthma) “red flags” and steps to minimize diagnostic delays.
- Role of neutrophilic inflammation, and neutrophil serine proteases in the pathophysiology of NCFB.
- Bronchiectasis management, the latest emerging treatment modalities and appropriate use, and as part multi-modal treatment approach and the latest bronchiectasis guidelines.
Nontuberculous Mycobacterial Lung Disease (NTM-LD) Areas of Education Focus:
- Improve recognition of NTM infection, disease burden and risk factors associated with NTMLD disease progression.
- Explore avenues to reduce diagnostic delays in NTMLD, driving timely therapeutic decisions on advance and initiation of multi-drug therapy as appropriate.
- Understanding using individualized treatment goals and patient-reported outcomes to evaluate the quality of life in patients with NTMLD.
- Apply evidence-based strategies to improve adherence, treatment completion, and clinical outcomes in patients with NTMLD.
- Current practices in NTMLD to minimize antimicrobial resistance and manage adverse events.
- Recent and emerging clinical data addressing evolving treatment approaches and their relevance to practice.
Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) Areas of Education Focus:
- Disease burden, unmet needs, and the treatments and treatment pathways for PH.
- Impact that a PH diagnosis has on including treatment options and patient outcomes.
- Early & accurate screening and diagnosis of PH.
