Advancing the science of serious diseases
Insmed may provide funding to organizations that support scientific research, healthcare provider education, and patient care objectives associated with our core therapeutic areas. Funding is available to support the following therapeutic areas:
- Nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) lung disease
- Non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis
- Serious and rare lung diseases
Organizations eligible to receive funding include medical and professional associations, patient organizations, hospitals and health systems, government organizations, medical education companies, and accredited CME/CPD providers. Funding may not be provided directly to healthcare professionals or their practices. Funding requests should be submitted at least 60 days prior to the program/project start date. Insmed requires funding support to be publicly disclosed.

Insmed may provide grant support for independent medical education programs that enhance healthcare professionals’ ability in diagnosing and treating patients in Insmed therapeutic areas of interest to help improve patient care and health outcomes.
Medical education grants may be provided for:
- Accredited (CME/CE/CPD) medical education for healthcare professionals
- Non-accredited medical education for healthcare professionals
- Independent education for patients
Submission requirements include:
- Needs assessment statement stating the purpose/need for the program including knowledge or practice gaps the program will address
- Program agenda/overview
- Program budget file
- Detailed program summary
- Learning objectives
- Program outcomes
- Current W9 form (or W8 for non-U.S. organizations)
Calls for grant applications
Insmed may issue Calls for Grant Applications to notify organizations that grant funding is available for specific programs and focus areas. Please visit www.acehp.org to search for available grant funding.
Insmed is committed to conducting business in compliance with all Insmed policies, American Medical Association (“AMA”) Guidelines on Gifts to Physicians, the AMA Ethical Opinion on Continuing Medical Education, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (“PhRMA”) code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals, the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (“ACCME”) Standards for Commercial Support, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) regulations and guidance, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Inspector General (“OIG”) guidance and all applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
Research project grants provide funding for disease registries, translational research, quality improvement programs, and other research initiatives that may be managed by research laboratories, hospitals, medical societies, and academic institutions. Research projects must be independent of Insmed programs, must not use Insmed products, and are separate from clinical trials or investigator-initiated research.
Submission requirements include:
- Brief description of the research project
- Amount requested from Insmed
- Total amount of the project
- Estimated start and end dates and key milestones
- Detailed description of the project:
- Disease or research area to be addressed, why it has been selected, and key questions the project will answer
- Project outline, including any collaborations, data collection, and analysis
- Description of the length of the project, including requests or expectation of multi-year support, and key milestones
- Description of how the research outputs will be used, including any planned publication of data
Research award grants may be provided to support advanced study by clinical or research professionals in therapeutic areas of interest to Insmed. Grant support may be provided to organizations that administer independent scientific and professional developmental activities including competitive research awards for trainees or physicians based on country regulations.
Submission requirements include:
- Brief description of the award program
- Amount requested from Insmed
- Total amount of the award program
- Description of the award program, if applicable, including the application and selection processes, and associated timelines
- Any requirements for publication or presentation by the recipient of the award
- How many award recipients are in the overall program each year and how long the award program has been in place, if applicable
Insmed is dedicated to the advancement of philanthropic causes that are consistent with Insmed’s scientific and disease areas of interest. Donations may be used for patient/caregiver support activities and advocacy or general fundraising activities for organizations that benefit patients, families or caregivers.
Charitable contribution designation applies exclusively to donations to organizations that are not for profit and qualify for tax exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code or equivalent legislation in other countries.
Submission requirements include:
- Summary of the proposed use of the donation, and the need for the program or services for which the donation is being requested
- Amount requested from Insmed
- Current year operating budget
- Estimated start and end dates, if applicable
- Organization’s mission and experience in providing similar programs and services
- W-9 for U.S. organizations (Insmed may require a W-8 for non-U.S. organizations)
- IRS determination letter for U.S organizations
- Itemized budget for the proposed funding use, if applicable
As part of Insmed’s mission to serve patients and the medical community, the Company may sponsor medical, scientific, or patient-related programs and conferences. Insmed will consider sponsorship opportunities that support an identified educational need by providing valuable information on serious rare diseases to healthcare professionals or to patients, with the goal of helping to improve patient care.

As part of Insmed’s commitment to the patient community and to advancing awareness of the disease areas in which we work, the Company will consider appropriate sponsorship opportunities that include advertising or promotional opportunities, as well as sponsorship for fundraising activities for organizations that provide programs and events for the patient and medical communities.
Submission requirements include:
- The requested amount or sponsorship levels
- List of benefits to Insmed associated with levels of sponsorship
- Educational need or value that the sponsored program or activity brings to the clinical or patient community
- Any additional documentation to support the request, such as agenda or program brochure, attendee demographics, etc.
- W9 for U.S. organizations (Insmed may require a W-8 for non-U.S. organizations)
